I must admit that there are times when I felt God has abandoned me. You probably have felt the same. Because of the severity of our trials, we sometimes think God has forgotten about us. I have had many prayers that say, “God, are you there?”
Psalms 139: 7-12 “I can never escape from your Spirit! I can never get away from your presence! If I go up to heaven, you are there; if I go down to the grave, you are there. If I ride the wings of the morning, if I dwell by the farthest oceans, even there your hand will guide me, and your strength will support me. I could ask the darkness to hide me and the light around me to become night— but even in darkness I cannot hide from you. To you the night shines as bright as day. Darkness and light are the same to you.”
King David’s psalms reveal that God will never lose sight of us There is no way we can ever be lost to God. We can’t go anywhere outside of God’s knowledge. We can’t go anywhere outside of God’s watchful care. The scriptures also tell us that even in our darkest moments, God is there. Even when we fall in some problems, some dilemma or conditions where it seems darkest, for God it is bright as day. He sees us. He sees us with love.
In other words, you and I may fall into some circumstance. We may fall into some problem, some dilemma, some condition and it’s going to be so dark… yet verse 12 says, “Even the darkness is not dark to Thee, the night is as bright as the day…”
As I get older, I find these to be precious thoughts because these show us how precious our lives are to God. You and I are so precious to God. He knows us deeply. He is involved in our lives. He watches us, guards us and protects us. You and I matter to him.
