Are we so much into religion that we forget what is really important to God?
Why do we do the things we do? Why do we go to church and give donations away?
Is it because we are obligated to and we are supposed to do it? Is it because we think God needs our money? Honestly, do we wear our best clothes for 90 minutes in a week, sit prim and proper at all times, sing songs for God’s sake? Or do we do it to look better in the eyes of people around us?
Perhaps you are tired of all these empty routines and rituals. And so is God.
God detests it when we call ourselves Christians but ignore all the things he really cares about. He hates it when we go through hollow religious routines out of some feeling of duty or obligation. God doesn’t want meaningless rituals. God wants our hearts.
When we stand before God, what will matter is not that we’ve performed religious rituals, but that we have worshiped and obeyed God from the heart. (Psalm 50)
